43

That’s the number of ladies who made me cry today.

Not just a few tears but the sliding down the wall sort of sobbing cry. In fact, I’m still sat on the floor, writing this now.

I just received a card in the post. Written inside are some beautiful words and an email address and a password. “Oh that’s interesting” I thought. I clicked the details into my computer and this is what I saw…

and there was a next page and a next….

All of those lines contain the names of people who have put money into an account in memory of Eljah. 43 names in total and I’ve never met 42 of them in person.

I am warmed by this incredible gesture made by an online group of wonderful mums.

We may live in a world where people sometimes fight and deliberately hurt others but we also live in a world where 42 people cared enough about someone they have never met, that they did something in memory of a tiny little boy who never got the chance to live in their world.

Thank you beautiful ladies. Your compassion has truly humbled me.

I may never stop crying.

  1. Baby Elijah has been in our (PP ladies) thoughts and we all knew we wanted to do something. The question was what ? The idea of a paypal account seemed the ideal solution as that way we all could give even ladies without a paypal account were able to give with the help of Roxy. We just all wanted to share our love xxx

  2. Remembering Baby Elijah! It will get better, time does heal but for me, 12 years on this December, it’s still painful, have to be honest. Unusual things trigger memories but most of the time, you feel like you can carry on. Trust me, it gets better, I know how awful it feels, but it does get better:). There is hope .. always. x

  3. What an incredible support network you have there. The beautifully sad and scary and inconceivable (for now) thing is, you will stop crying. But the renewal of your faith in people, by this selfless kindness shown to you, is what will keep proving itself over and again as Elijah’s gift to you. You’ll be amazed at the ways, in their uniqueness and their sheer number.

xxxx Am thinking of you. And remembering your dear boy, Elijah. Thanks to him (and to my own girl, Ellanor, who got me into this in the first place) I met you 🙂

  4. People can amaze with their kindness…sometimes it’s only when disaster comes that we see how great people can be. Sending you a big *hug* xx
